Summary: MOPX started in March 2025 as “MOB App”, a simple first version. In August 2026 it was rebuilt as MOPX 2.0 with a proper database, safer billing and a new look. By September 2026 (versions 2.1 to 2.5) it had backups, credit, purchases, reports and printer support.
Where it started (March 2025)
- A first version called “MOB App”: a dashboard, a screen to add items, a stock list and a billing screen.
- Data was kept in simple app storage, and a bill and its stock change were saved separately, so a crash at the wrong moment could leave them out of step.
MOPX 2.0.0 (7–9 August 2026): the rebuild
- New name: MOPX.
- A real database on the phone (SQLite). Products, stock, bills, payments and history now live in one database inside the app’s private storage.
- Every bill is saved all-or-nothing. The bill, its items, the payment and the stock change are written together, or not at all.
- Every stock change is recorded. Sales, restocks and corrections each leave a stock movement, so stock can be traced.
- Old data moved over automatically. Shops that used the old app kept their products and bills; the old data was never deleted.
- New look. Bottom tabs for the main screens, large buttons for fast billing, light and dark themes.
- Prepared for Google Play, with its own signing key.
MOPX 2.1 to 2.4 (September 2026): the tools a shop needs
- Backup and restore. One backup file with the whole shop, including product photos and unfinished bills, locked with a password (AES-256-GCM encryption). Restore checks the file before replacing anything, and keeps a safety copy first. Optional backup reminders.
- Park a bill and come back to it. Serve the next customer, then resume.
- Purchases and suppliers. Record stock you receive and what you paid; MOPX keeps an average buying cost.
- Profit reports. Sales, profit where the buying cost is known (it never guesses missing costs), stock value, money collected and money still owed.
- Split payments. Cash, UPI and card on one bill, with the change to return.
- Credit (udhaar). Customer name and phone, due date, overdue list, and payments in installments.
- Units. Sell by piece, kg, litre and more, with decimals for loose goods.
- Import products from a spreadsheet (CSV), with a preview and errors shown before anything is saved.
- Receipts. Share as PDF, print with Android’s print screen, or print on Bluetooth or network thermal printers (58 mm and 80 mm).
MOPX 2.5.0 to 2.5.2 (19–20 September 2026): faster billing
- Search inside the bill, by name or price, forgiving one typo per word (“bisuits”).
- Compact cart rows, about a third shorter, with the newest item on top.
- “Already in the bill” markers in the product list, with the quantity.
- Save explains itself: if a product can’t be saved, a red line says exactly why.
- Shop address and phone with icons on receipts and PDFs.
- Press back twice to leave the app from Home.
- A smaller app (2.5.2).
Why it matters
- Billing is the one thing a shop can’t get wrong. Since 2.0, a bill and its stock change can never get out of step.
- Everything works without internet. The shop’s data stays on the phone.
